The course focuses on main aspects of Czech and Slovak history from middle ages till 1918: Great Moravian state Beginnings of Czech statehood Přemyslid dynasty Jan Hus Hussite wars Georg of Podiebrady and Jagiellonian dynasty in the Kingdom of Bohemia. Czech lands in the age of reformation and age of baroque. Slovak lands under Hungarian rule „National revival“ of Czechs and Slovaks The birth of political representation - Spring of Nations and restoration of absolutism From Czech-Slovak cooperation to concept of Czechoslovak nation Search for meaning of Czech history. Learning outcomes: |
Student: 1) Learns Czech and Slovak history. 2) Finds, analyses, weighs up, selects and utilizes information. 3) Argues in terms of content, formulates conclusions using opinions of other authors. 4) Is able to perform oral presentations about detailed questions, using theoretical conceptualization and other sources. 5) Is able to weigh up critically acquired knowledge. |
Assessment methods and assessment criteria: |
Treatment: Compulsory attendance. Possible number of absence: one unreasonable during the semester. Also each absence above one should be worked off on shift. Students will also have possibility to make presentations. Treatment will depend on attendance, active participation and oral examination about material from courses. |
