Short description:

A humanistic Student's course must master the technique of writing scientific papers. The purpose of the object is to teach the student a "workshop" of writing scientific work, both from the substantive and editorial sides so that it is ready to work independently with the text and to conduct scientific research under the direction of a scientific supervisor.

Great emphasis is placed on the student's self-employment, activity and integrity in finding sources for work.

Full description:

As part of the seminar students:

1. Obtain the skills of working with the culture entity (analysis, synthesis, use of fragments of work for self-employment);

2. Collect a bibliography; meticulously working out a bibliography;

3. Form the subject, and the title of the research as well as draw up a layout of the paperwork;

4. Comprehending the technique of academic writing;

5. Gain the ability to write academic documents (appropriate text preparation, proper structure and divisions);

1. Postulates for planning a scientific project

2. Principles of academic writing

3. Forming the topic of work and a crucial assessment of the topics of the student groups

4. Discussion of the work plan carried out in the research projects

5. Discussion of the bibliography of work carried out in the research projects

6. An overview of the methodology of studies conducted in the framework of research projects composition of work according to the requirements of the KSI

7. Communications on intellectual property protection I

8. Discussion of the results of the partial studies carried out in the research projects

9. Composition of works according to the requirements of the KSI EST

10. Discussion of the results of the partial studies carried out in the research projects

11. Communications on intellectual property protection II

12. Discussion of the results of the partial studies conducted in the research projects

13. Text styling, scientific texts

14. Presentations of research results from student group research projects, discussion and critical evaluation

Student workload:

Participation in the classroom-30 hours (1 ECTS)

Preparation (Conduct of studies, analysis and performance characteristics) and presentation of written work – 60 hours (2 ECTS)

After completing the course:

Students know and understand (knowledge):

1) To an advanced degree, the basic concepts of intellectual property protection (K1_W08; reference to P6S_WK).

2) Theoretical principles of a scientific project (K1_W01, a reference to P6S_WG)

Students can (skills):

1) Search, select and use the information need from different sources (K1_U01; reference to P6S_UW).

2) Develop research skills, independently acquire knowledge, with the support of a supervisor; formulate thoughts, present the results of the tests in oral or written forms (of various types) (K1_U03; reference to P6S_UW).

3) Plan and organise individual and teamwork, plan and implement the process of self-knowledge, including expertise (K1_U10; reference to P6S_UO).

4) Use modern communication and information technologies in its work (K1_U11; reference to P6S_UU).

Students are willing to (social competence):

1) effective communication and living in the society, taking up work in a group, dealing with a typical and exceptional situations, verifying their views are employing a factual discussion and assessing the knowledge (K1_K02; reference to P6S_KK ).

2) continuing to educate and replenish the knowledge gained (K1_K01; reference to P6S_KK).

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

Classroom activities require active participation (discussion).

The student's work (in the form of the group project) will be assessed, including the substantive participation in the discussions during the participant's presentations with respect to knowledge of intellectual property protection principles.

The final assessment consists of:

-Project assessment (60%)

-Substantive discussion in class (10%)

-Assessment of Intellectual property protection (30%)
