  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;

  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;

The classes are continuation of Cultural history of the countries of the region: Bohemia and Slovakia. The main focus is put on specific problems of Czech and Slovak culture.

7) German culture in Bohemian lands

Learning outcomes:

Knowledge: the graduate knows and understands:

- in a basic degree the specificity of various cultural models in anthropological terms (traditional, noble, bourgeois, mass), processes of their transformation and interrelations and emanations in the symbolic and semiotic sphere, and thus in the space of culture and art, literature and language and history of Bohemian lands and Slovakia

- in a basic degree intercultural context

- search, select, analyze and use the information it needs from various sources

- develop their research skills, independently and using the support of a tutor, gain knowledge, skilfully formulate thoughts, present research results in the form of oral or written (different types)

- carry out a critical analysis of the products of culture appropriate for a given era in the development of Bohemian lands and Slovakia; identify various types of cultural products of these countries, conduct their critical in-depth analysis, distinguish different perspectives on cultural development, aware of differences in cultural identities and context

- critical assessment of knowledge, continuous education and complementing the acquired knowledge

- active participation in cultural life, organizing it and using its various forms

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

Condition of admission to examinations is compulsory attendance in the courses (according to Principles of studies at Faculty of Applied Linguistics).

Courses will consist of discussion about scheduled literature or material presented by tutor in form of presentation. Active participation in discussion means that student contributes to discussion during at least 50% classes.

Student will also prepare one presentation about topic delimited by tutor.

Final assessment depends on:

Active and factual participation in discussion during course (40%).

Presentation about topic delimited by tutor (20%).

Oral examination (40%).

0%-49% - 2

50%-60% - 3

61%-70% - 3+

71%-80% - 4

81%-90% - 4+

91%-100% - 5
