The aim of the lectures is to outline the character of the CEE region, as it is understood in the concept of the chair. From the historical point of view it concerns state-building and culture-forming role of several nations: Poles, Lithuanians, Kievan Rus and Muscovy/Grand Duchy of Moscow; the contemporary approach covers the new system including ‘new’ nations/states - Ukraine, Belarus. |

Learning outcomes: |
After completing the series of lectures students should be able to interpret the proposed concept of the region on the basis of the previous concepts concerning this problem; should know the researchers who have studied the problems of the Central and Eastern Europe, as well as correctly identify the historical and cultural relations in the region. |
