Short description:	The seminar will be concerned with historical, generic and thematic approaches to the American film.
Full description:	The seminar will be concerned with historical, generic and thematic approaches to the American film. It will focus, among others, on generic formulas in different periods and on the evolution of such formulas. This evolution entails changes in the ways of constructing imagery and, subsequently, leads to modifications of ideological senses. Film will be seen as a medium that involves a variety of esthetic and cultural contexts. Particular attention will be paid to the connections between literature and film.
