Focus on the major American and British accents. A comparison of the vowel and consonant systems of General American and Received Pronunciation. A phonological account of selected processes in General American and Received Pronunciation. Description of regional American accents used in Eastern New England, the South and New York City. Lexical and grammatical differences.
