ECTS credit allocation (and other scores): 2.00 Basic information on ECTS credits allocation principles:
  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

(in Polish) Zajęcia są skierowane do studentów modułu metodycznego. Ich celem jest przygotowanie do wykorzystywania i samodzielnego tworzenia różnych rodzajów materiałów w nauczaniu języka francuskiego jako obcego.

Short description:

The aim of the course is to prepare students to use and independently create materials in the didactics of French as a foreign language. Three groups of materials will be considered: authentic, quasi-authentic, didactic. Practical assignments will address different genres within each of the three groups. Students will learn the principles of working with them and will develop the ability to modify and use them in language classes, as well as to create them themselves.

Full description:

The following topics and specific issues will be covered in this course.

1. basic notions and classifications concerning materials used in foreign language teaching: authentic, quasi-authentic, didactic materials; written, oral, visual, electronic materials; types of didactic (prepared) materials;

2. the functions of different types of materials: language learning, socio-cultural, pedagogical, related to the development of general competences (savoir-être, savoir-apprendre) and others;

3. principles and practical activities related to the use of the following materials:

a) Subject

b) Brochure, prospectus, ticket, etc.

c) Photo

d) Website of an institution, company, etc.

e) Non-specialised press article

f) Popular/scientific article

g) Literary text

h) Song

i) Video

j) Humorous material

k) Online tests

4. Assessment of French as a foreign language textbooks from the point of view of the materials they contain (criteria of the possibility of developing different competences, the possibility of using materials at a given language level, pedagogical value, etc.).

5. Dilemmas related to the use of authentic and didactic (prepared) materials in foreign language teaching: impression of foreignness, so-called contextual artificiality, combining both types, etc.

Learning outcomes:

The student knows:

-in-depth the place and importance of the humanities, in particular

literary studies and linguistics, in the system of sciences, as well as their thematic and

methodology (K_W01)

- to an in-depth degree the basic and complex processes taking place in language and literature in the French-speaking countries of the cultural area (K_W03)

-in-depth trends, directions and research methodologies in the field of language and literature studies, especially in the countries of the French-speaking cultural area (K_W04)

-in-depth the functions of language and the social and cultural aspects of its use in

diverse, including atypical communication situations, including in intercultural communication

intercultural communication (K_W07)

-in-depth principles of creation and development of various forms of entrepreneurship related to the field of study (K_W12)

Students are able to:

-apply complex theoretical concepts appropriate to linguistics and literary studies, especially French, when planning research (K_U01)

-apply complex research skills in research, including analysis of research problems, formulation of hypotheses, selection of research methods and techniques, as well as elaboration and presentation of results when preparing their own work in linguistics and literary studies (K_U02)

- independently acquire knowledge and plan their own learning, guide others in this area and develop complex skills using various sources (K_U03)

-work in a group, lead the work of a team, including in a multicultural context, facing K_U04

-apply complex information and communication techniques in the process (K_U13)

The student is ready to:

-critically evaluate their own knowledge and skills, as well as make modifications and corrections of attitudes and behavior (K_K01)

-think and act in an entrepreneurial manner (K_K02)

-open-mindedness towards individual and cultural differences and understanding their ethical dimension (K_K03)

Podczas zajęć studenci przygotowują (indywidualnie lub w zespołach) praktyczne zadania związane z różnymi materiałami stosowanymi w dydaktyce języków obcych oraz samodzielnie tworzą autorskie materiały. Kolokwium końcowe – organizowane na przedostatnich zajęciach – ma na celu sprawdzenie praktycznych umiejętności zdobytych podczas zajęć.

Warunkiem zaliczenia zajęć jest systematyczne wykonywanie zadań cząstkowych i zaliczenie końcowego kolokwium.
