ECTS credit allocation (and other scores): 4.50 Basic information on ECTS credits allocation principles:
  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Prerequisites (description):

The course covers the basic issues related primarily to the description of the Spanish language: historical, sociolinguistic, phonetic,

phonological, but also with morphological, syntactic, semantic and pragmatic. Students with a basic knowledge of Spanish will get

acquainted with the theory of descriptive grammar and specialist names of this field. The already existing practical knowledge will be

extended by the theoretical aspect necessary in the description of linguistic phenomena, research and linguistic analyzes.

La asignatura prevé la participación de estudiantes españoles.

Sin embargo, su temario (guía docente) será diferente de la de los estudiantes polacos. Los requisitos para los estudiantes españoles se

establecen personalmente con el profesor. Así mismo, se proporcionará individualmente la guía docente de los contenidos de la

asignatura dirigidos a los estudiantes hispanohablantes.

The course covers the basic issues related primarily to the description of the Spanish language: historical, sociolinguistic, phonetic,

phonological, but also with morphological, syntactic, semantic and pragmatic.

Full description:

There are 6 topics related to general information about history, development and the situation and Spanish language. In addition, issues

related to sociolinguistics and pragmatics will be addressed in a practical way.

In addition, the course covers the basic phonological phenomena of the Spanish language, such as the phonological system and its

structure; implementation of phonemes (variance, neutralization); phonotactic rules (syllable construction); accent (type, place and

function), etc.

The aim of the course is to consolidate general knowledge in the field of phonetics and phonology, with a special focus on the phonetics

and phonology of the Spanish language. Students practice the phonetic and phonological resource of the standard variant of the

pronunciation (Castilian), as well as practically analyze the main differences between it and other variants. In addition, they practice the

principles of accenting and the main patterns of intonation.

Students practice variants useful in the use of language: correct pronunciation, accentuation and intonation, the ability to divide syllabic

and inter-word merging, correct phonetic and spelling.

The course provides both the transfer of theoretical knowledge and practical exercises to consolidate it.

After completing the course, the student acquires the necessary skills, knowledge and social competences:

KNOW -absolvent knows and understands:

K_W01 (P6S_WG) in the basic extent of hispanics connection with other disciplines of the humanities, including the science of culture and

religion of the Spanish-speaking countries

K_W03 (P6S_WG) basic terminology, subject and directions of research including areas of descriptive grammar, including phonetics,

morphology, syntax, pragmatics and vocabulary;

K_W07 (P6S_WG) in a basic degree the mechanisms of the evolution of the Spanish language and its features in particular epochs and in

a structured way of the history of the Spanish language, its development and mutual influences of other languages always with reference

to Iberian languages;

K_W08 (P6S_WG) basic problems of descriptive grammar of the Spanish language (phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax);

SKILLS - a good aptitude -

K_U01 (P6S_UW) read texts written in Spanish;

K_U02 (P6S_UK) present their own views, opinions, discuss, present prepared issues in Spanish;

K_U03 (P6S_UW) recognize different types of Spanish-language texts, place them in the general historical-cultural context and conduct

their analysis using basic terminology and appropriate methods;

K_U04 acquire knowledge and develop skills using appropriate sources from selected areas of science and scientific disciplines,

appropriate for hispanist studies (dictionaries, lexicons, encyclopedias, source texts, monographic studies, etc.);

K_U05 (P6S_UW) write and edit a written work in Polish and Spanish with the use of appropriate methods and appropriate sources

appropriate to the fields of science and scientific disciplines appropriate for hispanist studies;

K_U06 (P6S_UW) Prepare oral presentations in Polish or Spanish using appropriate methods and appropriate sources relevant to the

fields of science and scientific disciplines appropriate for hispanist studies;

K_U07 (P6S_UO) plan and organize work, cooperate in a team;

K_U08 (P6S_UK) use the Spanish language at a sufficient level to describe the phenomena discussed in the classroom;

K_U10 (P6S_UK). Communicate with the use of various communication channels and techniques with specialists in the field of selected

areas of science and scientific disciplines appropriate for hispanist studies.

SOCIAL COMPETENCES - the graduate is ready for:

K_K01 (P6S_KK) critical assessment of own knowledge and skills, understands the need for continuous improvement and development;

K_K02 (P6S_KR) compliance with the rules of professional ethics;

K_K03 (P6S_KR) active participation in the culture of the studied region using various forms and media and is able to work in a team

performing different roles

K_K04 (P6S_KR) tracking of contemporary language processes and phenomena occurring in the language of Spain and Latin America

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

THE COURSE end with an exam. The final note consists of:

1) class attendance,

2) final written exam 70%,

3) active participation in classes and homeworks 30%.

To pass the course, the student must get 60% of the 3 above mentioned criteria together.

Assessment:

5 = 90% - 100%

4+ = 84% - 89%

4 = 77% - 83%

3+ = 70% - 76%

3 = 60% - 69%
