Basic subjects for first year first degree Portuguese studies
ECTS credit allocation (and other scores): 3.00 Basic information on ECTS credits allocation principles:
  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Prerequisites (description):

The classes will be conducted in situ or in accordance to the distant learning principle, accordingly to the epidemic situation.

The students will get to know the basic vocbulary and terminology in the realm of Literary Studies in the Portuguese language and with de investigation apparatus.

Poetic, drama and prose text. Conceptions, notions, terms. Introduction to the reading of literary texts in the Portuguese language.

Full description:

Metaphoric mood in poetry. The structure of drama and of the narrative text.

Approaches to chosen literary texts of Portuguese Literature (fragments read in original). Literary periodization. The dialogue in between arts (in particular,

in between painting and poetry). Reading, analysys and interpretation of a chosen poetic text and of a prose text in the pt - pl and pt - pt version.

Portuguese and Lusophone literature bases read in the original. Chosen examples.

The iconography reading. The artistic interdisciplinary discourse.

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

The tolerance is of 3 (three) non justified absences.

In justified cases (Doctor's certificate, Erasmus, etc.) the approval may be external - via Skype.

Presentation of one historic-literary topic/term/problem during the class (the hot-chairs system), pp, preferably from the manual or out of the sources quoted below, supplied in power point at least 3 days before the presentation.
