Short description:

Spanish literature 1 is an obligatory course for the first year students of the BA studies. It offers an introduction to the contemporary Spanish narrative and includes reading and discussion of selected Spanish novelists, with particular attention to the dramatic cultural, social and political changes brought by the Transition period from dictatorship to the democratic regime, as well as to diverse memory politics /poetics and encoded gender issues; conducted in Polish.

Spanish literature 1 is an obligatory course for the first year students of the BA studies. It offers an introduction to the contemporary Spanish narrative and includes reading and discussion of selected Spanish novelists, with particular attention to the dramatic cultural, social and political changes brought by the Transition period from dictatorship to the democratic regime, as well as to diverse memory politics /poetics and encoded gender issues; conducted in Polish.

During the course students will analyze canonical and non-canonical literary texts produced by contemporary Spanish authors using basic notions of poetics and narratology.

- basic knowledge of the position of Spanish literature as an academic discipline and its specificity in terms of field of investigation and methodology

- capacity to analyze a selected narrative text written by a Spanish contemporary author and to present arguments in accordance with the adapted methodology and cultural knowledge (K_U03);

- consciousness of the importance of conserving cultural heritage of the Spanish speaking countries (K_K06).
