  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;

Short description:

The subject covers the merits and tasks of pedagogy, penitential andragogy and rehabilitative pedagogy in probation and isolation, as well as in social re-adaptation and integration of prisoners. A characteristics and assessment (evaluation) of

the Polish penal system and probation is presented. Isolation and probation and their theoretical and practical dimensions are analysed in the light of the development of prison/penal and probation systems and international standards

Full description:

1. The subject and tasks of pedagogy and andragogy and their use in penitential practice and probation.

2. Development of penitential systems and international standards in the realms of penology and probation

-Contemporary visions of prison (isolation) and probation in the light of international standards

-The influence of international standards on practice in Poland

3. Alternative means of penal policy. Abolitionism and its influence on prison and probation systems.

4. A characteristics of Polish penitential and probation system

- Aims, functions and regulations of imprisonment

- Population and clasification of prisoners

- Penitary facilities, types of prisons

- Regulations of a penalty execution and social status of the inmates

- Methods and means of rehabilitative interaction, systems of executing the prison sentence, a role of the prison staff

- Characteristics and implementing of probation means

5. Prison as an educational institution

- A characteristics of prison isolation, processes and phenomena typical of the isolation

.- Factors conditioning the rehabilitative interactions and prison isolation

-Psychosocial effects and the effectiveness of imprisonment and probation

Po zakończeniu procesu uczenia student

W zakresie wiedzy:

• definiuje pojęcia z zakresu pedagogiki i andragogiki penitencjarnej o celach, formach i sposobach oddziaływania na więźniów w warunkach pozbawienia wolności i probacji.

• charakteryzuje rozwój współczesnej penitencjarystyki oraz system penitencjarny i probacji w Polsce.

W zakresie umiejętności:

• potrafi uczestniczyć w realizacji alternatywnych środków polityki karnej

• wykorzystuje podstawy metodyki oddziaływania penitencjarnego i probacji

• wykorzystuje standardy międzynarodowe dotyczące wykonywania kary i probacji oraz potrafi odnieść praktykę w Polsce do standardów międzynarodowych.

W zakresie kompetencji społecznych

• jest wrażliwy na potrzeby człowieka nieprzystosowanego i wymagającego wsparcia w rozwoju i społecznym funkcjonowaniu

• potrafi samodzielnie i zespołowo określać priorytety projektowanych programów profilaktycznych i naprawczych, uwzględnia w nich potrzeby osób i społeczności objętych tymi programami
