Short description:

The lecture gives an overview of the most important problems related to decision-making and their consequences for social welfare. Presented are methods of decision making, including selected issues of social choice theory and public choice. Special attention will be devoted to the problems of justice, both in terms of global concepts for determining a fair social governance and the methods of solving the practical problems of division. Discussed will be ways to evaluate social welfare and the relationship between prosperity and social inequalities. The lecture also covers selected issues of cost-benefit analysis, problems and methods of delivery of public goods and the use of shared resources.

The lecture gives an overview of the most important problems related to decision-making and their consequences for social welfare. Presented are methods of decision making, including selected issues of social choice theory and public choice. Special attention will be devoted to the problems of justice, both in terms of global concepts for determining a fair social governance and the methods of solving the practical problems of division. Discussed will be ways to evaluate social welfare and the relationship between prosperity and social inequalities. The lecture also covers selected issues of cost-benefit analysis, problems and methods of delivery of public goods and the use of shared resources.
