ECTS credit allocation (and other scores): 19.00 Basic information on ECTS credits allocation principles:
  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Short description:

Contemporary societies are saturated with media and

overtaken by constant processes of mobilization for

conflicts over key public goods. By reconstructing the

verbal and visual rhetoric of these conflicts we can

observe the complexity and dynamics of dense social

processes.

Seminar is offered to those students who want to

research verbal and visual aspects of discussions over

public goods in their master thesis.

During the continuation of the seminar in academic year

2022/2023 the classes will be concentrated on projects

of participants. Topics will include: visual and linguistic

aspects of protests; the body and identity in

contemporary culture and public discuourse; conflicts

and negotitations over moral norms.

Contemporary societies are saturated with media and

The topics and literature mentioned in the description of

the seminar is a set of examples. The final list of

problems and texts will be agreed with the participants of

the seminar.

Learning outcomes: (in Polish)

K_W18 Ma pogłębioną wiedzę na temat norm i reguł

społecznych obowiązujących w obszarze komunikacji

publicznej, specjalistycznej i międzykulturowej.

K_W21 Zna i rozumie podstawowe pojęcia i zasady z zakresu

ochrony prawa autorskiego.

K_U11 Potrafi właściwie analizować przyczyny i przebieg

procesów komunikacyjnych i dyskursywnych,

formułować własne opinie na ten temat oraz stawiać i

weryfikować proste hipotezy badawcze.,

K_U14 Potrafi samodzielnie zdiagnozować konkretne

problemy w dziedzinie komunikacji międzyludzkiej oraz

proponować możliwe rozwiązania.

K_U17 Potrafi używać języka pisanego we własnych tekstach,

kontrolując ich wpływ na odbiorcę.,

K_K08 Jest gotowy samodzielnie i krytycznie uzupełniać swą

wiedzę i umiejętności, łącząc perspektywę

socjologiczną i lingwistyczną.

K_K09 Jest gotowy do poszukiwania nowych metod i źródeł w

celu uzupełnienia swojej wiedzy i doskonalenia

umiejętności zawodowych.

K_K10 Jest gotowy do samodzielnego wyznaczania kierunku

własnego rozwoju i dokształcania się.

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

Active attendance, reading and completing master thesis will

be required.

Two absences per semester are accepted. In case of absences

above this limit additional work will be required.
