Short description:

The course is devoted to the problems of social security in Poland. Particularly the subject of reflection will be the social security system functioning in environment of labour market. In the last 25 years in Poland social security system has changed and its direction, condition and consequences will be subject of interest. The changes of social security system will be presented on the background of changes of social welfare systems in UE countries.

Full description:

Postwar European welfare systems was being developed on the base of social insurance systems which was supported by welfare assistance. In the communistic period in Poland social security has been quarantined by widespread employment for everyone. “Socialist welfare system” is over when the communistic system collapsed. In 1990th a lot of changes in social security systems have been introduced in Poland (i.e. pension system, health care system), which have fundamental influence on well-being and social security of citizens. Conditions, realization and consequences of this changes will be subject our interest. Process of this changes in Poland will be presented on the background of analogous changes in EU countries. Particular emphasis will be placed on the analysis of theoretical and ideological assumptions in the field of social security.
