Short description:

The main purpose of this course is to provide the II year students with the knowledge of the written modern Chinese language on the basis of selected texts on contemporary Chinese topics (newspaper articles, reports and short stories), to demonstrate the typical linguistic constructions and vocabulary characteristic for various kinds of texts, and to present methods of proper interpretation and translation of texts.

Full description:

Students prepare an oral translation of the texts indicated in the textbook, and during the classroom training the texts are once again translated and analysed, new grammatical constructions and the use of the specific vocabulary are explained.The texts in the textbook are provided with explanations of some phrases and idioms, and also with English translations of the new words used.
