Short description:

Epigraphy deals with examination of texts written on various materials – mainly stone (for instance: on temple walls, stelae and others). The course aims at providing knowledge on the standard formulae of some typical texts, the possible forms of hieroglyphs and preparing the participants for individual reading.

Epigraphy deals with examination of texts written on various materials – mainly stone (for instance: on temple walls, stelae and others). The course aims at providing knowledge on the standard formulae of some typical texts, the possible forms of hieroglyphs and preparing the participants for individual reading. Texts from various periods will be read (from Old Kingdom to Late Period).
