ECTS credit allocation (and other scores): 3.00 Basic information on ECTS credits allocation principles:
  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Short description:

The series of classes is devoted to the practical use of the Egyptian dialect.

Full description:

The course covers following questions: reading dialogues, descriptive texts, and conversations with special regard to their practical use.

The purpose of the course is to provide students with the basic knowledge of practical rules of the Egyptian dialect and teach them how to use these rules in practice.

The knowledge of the basic structures of the Egyptian dialect is also to help the students to learn other Arabic dialects which are essential means of daily communication the Arab world.

Knowledge - a student:

has extensive knowledge of the Arabic language (its/their structure, history, script) K_W12

is aware of the complex nature of Arabic, its place and significance in the cultural and historical context of Arab countries K_W13

is aware of the linguistic variety and its influence on the cultural and political situation of the world K_W14

has rudimentary knowledge of translation rules from Arabic into Polish K_W15

Skills - a student:

read, analyse and interpret literary texts and other works of culture (film, press, social writing) and appropriately place them in their cultural context K_U06

can use the knowledge of socio-cultural issues of Arab countries in typical professional situations K_K09

has a good command of Arabic at the B2 level K_U12

can analyse and interpret source texts in Arabic K_U13

can translate literary texts and writings from Arabic into Polish K_U14

interpret key terms from a culture of Arab countries through linguistic/philological analysis K_U15

can fluently use the Arabic script and the necessary tools to learn and analyse it K_U16 (traditional and electronic dictionaries, lexicons, linguistic corpora, data bases, etc.)

properly function in the linguistic and cultural environment of Arab countries K_U17

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

Attendance control - a student can be absent max. three times during the semester; in the case of absence due to illness, the medical certificate excusing this absence should be submitted within seven work days of the last day of the leave specified in the certificate.
