  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Short description:

The classes are the continuation of studying Arabic (after the first year of studies) and are focused on its practical application, as well as on getting a theoretical background. During the studies the students will learn about modern standard Arabic, literary translations, especially the language of prose, poetry and short stories. Different grammatical structures will be presented.

The classes are the continuation of studying Arabic (after the first year of studies) and are focused on its practical application, as well as on getting a theoretical background. During the studies the students will learn about modern standard Arabic, literary translations, especially the language of Arabic prose, poetry and short stories. Different grammatical structures, phraseological expressions and wide variety of vocabulary will be presented. This knowledge of Arabic will enable students to find an interesting job of a translator, interpreter or diplomat.

Knowledge - a student knows and understands:

the place and importance of Oriental studies in the humanities and their specificity in relation to the subject and methodology K_W01

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

Continuous assessment, written tests, final written and oral assessment

Attendance control (max 10% of excused absences); in the case of absence due to illness, the medical certificate excusing this absence should be submitted within seven work days of the last day of the leave specified in the certificate.

The total number of excused and unexcused absences allowing for taking an examination is 30%.
