  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;

  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

History of the ancient Egyptian literature of the Old and Middle Kingdoms.

Full description:

History of the ancient Egyptian literature of the Old and Middle Kingdoms.

The aim of this lecture is the presentation of ancient Egyptian literature and its terminology. It covers the history of literature and focuses especially on the genres typical for each period. It also takes account of the literary motives present in Egyptian texts.

Students prepare the short papers and read the translations of the Egyptian literary texts.

The student should:

Knowledge:

- have the knowledge of the literature and writings of Ancient Egypt; mention and describe the most important texts of Ancient Egypt;

- know the state of research in the given field of Ancient Egypt;

Skills:

- find, analyze and use the data from different sources;

- be able to read, analyze and make commentary to the literary texts and other texts;

- be able to compare the literary texts and see the connections with other kind of cultural material;

Competence:

- understand the need of learning during the life.
