Reading modern Hebrew texts (from the 19th century till today) in the field of Judaism, Zionist thought, Jewish philosophy, modern Hebrew literature and also Israeli culture and current problems in the Israeli society. The aim of the course is to read and analyze sources in modern Hebrew, and to perfect the skills of the students in reading, understanding, discussing and writing about any scientific subject in Hebrew studies. In that way no text or source in Hebrew will be an obstacle for them in their studies and M.A. thesis. |

Learning outcomes: |
After completing the course, the student has Knowledge: K_W01 has in-depth and detailed knowledge (including terminology, theory and methodology) in literary studies or linguistic studies or philosophy and religion studies or history K_W02 has extended knowledge of particular problems pertaining to the cultures of Israel and Judaism (within the scope of culture and literature or language or philosophy and religion or history and socio-political issues) in a comparative perspective K_W03 has extended knowledge of particular problems pertaining to the culture of Israel and Judaism (within the scope of culture and literature or language or philosophy and religion or history and socio-political issues) K_W04 has extended and deepened knowledge of Hebrew K_W08 demonstrates good grasp of contemporary cultural life of Israel K_W09 has genuine knowledge of rules of communication, writing, reading in Hebrew (contemporary and/or classical/ dead language) K_W10 has wide and profound knowledge of the structures and social relations as well as socio-cultural behaviours of Israel in the scope conditioning professional social and intercultural verbal communication K_W11 knows and understands the rules of copyright and intellectual property management Skills: K_U02 can indicate sources of cultural differences of Judaism and Israel, also on the basis of source materials K_U08 can read, analyze and interpret advanced Hebrew literary texts and other works of culture (film, press, social writing) from Israel and appropriately place them in their cultural context K_U09 can compare and thoroughly analyze interrelations between Hebrew literary texts and other works of culture (film, press, social writing) in Israel and the issues within the scope of tradition and modern times K_U12 can evaluate, select and explain most important products of contemporary culture in Israel K_U13 can select and translate into Polish most valuable literary works/writings of Hebrew K_U15 has a good command of Hebrew at least at the C1 level K_U18 has superior skill at presenting detailed aspects within the scope of cultural issues of Judaism and Israel in Polish and in Hebrew taking into consideration the intellectual tradition of Judaism and Israel K_U19 has superior skill at formulating own opinions and conclusions in writing and in speech both in Polish and in Hebrew K_U21 can expertly use advanced electronic and internet tools in Polish and in Hebrew Social competences: K_K03 can actively establish relations and cooperate with representatives of other cultures K_K05 is open to new ideas and trends as well as cultural diversity K_K08 understands and appreciates the value of tradition and cultural heritage of one’s own country and of Israel and the Jews K_K10 actively acts in aid of mutual understanding and effective intercultural communication, cultural and economic cooperation, domestic contacts and ones in Israel K_K11 actively acts in aid of sharing and promoting cultural heritage and most important products of contemporary culture in Israel and of the Jews in the diaspora |

Activity and presence in the class. Being prepared each meeting, reading at home. 2 written essays in each semester concerning the subjects read and discussed. |
