  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Prerequisites (description):

The student should posses the general knowledge on the Arabic language and be able to explain the modern linguistic situation in the Arab world.


The student should be proficient in the following grammar elements:


- orthography – hamza, short and long vowels etc.

- phonology

- noun structure

- grammatical categories of the nomina: number, gender, case and attribute

- noun declension – diptotes and triptotes

- adjective structure and deflection


The student should posses the competence in reading simple readings, asking questions, introducing people, describing people and classroom.

Short description:

The continuation of the basic course of the Arabic language. During the course students will be introduced to the further elements of Arabic grammar (nominal phrases, nominal sentences, numerals 1-20) and a basic range of vocabulary and phraseology (reading, conversation). They will train acquired knowledge from the first course.

Full description:

During the course students will be introduced to the following issues:

- nominal phrases – of nouns and adjectives

- nominal phrases – idhafa

- cardinal numerals 1-20

- past tense of verbs

- conversations and reading practice concerning the above mentioned grammar elements and asking questions, creating vocabulary: introducing people, classroom, describing a room.

They will train acquired knowledge from the first course.

Learning outcomes:

Knowledge:

has extensive knowledge of Arabic language (its/their structure, history, script)

- and basic knowledge of the second oriental language K_W12

- is aware of the complex nature of a Arabic language, its place and significance in the cultural and historical context of Iran and Afghanistan K_W13

Skills:

- has a good command of Arabic language at A1 level K_U12

- can fluently use the script of a Arabic language and the necessary tools to learn and analyze it (traditional and electronic dictionaries, lexicons, linguistic corpora, data bases, etc.) K_U16

Social competence:

- understands the need to learn all one’s life K_K01

- can cooperate and work in a group as well as forge relationships and build social relations K_K02

- can establish relations and cooperate with representatives oother cultures K_K03

- sees the need of dialogue between cultures K_K06

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

- continuous assessment – 20%

- attendance control – 10%

- final written assessment – 55%

- final oral assessment – 15%
