Short description:

The aim of the seminar is to educate the student in the preparing diploma research and writing a comprehensive diploma thesis. The thesis have to be based on the Persian language sources, which are the basic material of her/his scientific work show the student ability of using scientific apparatus.

The seminar prepares students to individual work on the thesis concerning Iran and Afghanistan. The aim of the seminar is the preparation of Master’s thesis.

Full description:

The diploma thesis is prepared under the tuition of the tutor. The seminar work is divided into three steps. The first one is to choose the theme of the research. The research has to be based on the Persian language sources, so this condition has to be taken into consideration in choosing the subject of the diploma thesis. The second step is to check and collect the bibliography and to prepare the concept of the paper. The third step is the writing and presenting the diploma thesis at the seminar. Student should have the skills of philological analysis of the Persian language sources, the knowledge of theoretical concepts and methods used to analyze the problems belonging to different scientific fields: literature, culture or history studies chosen by her/him. The knowledge of the scientific literature in these fields it is necessary to formulate the synthesis and final conclusions of the thesis.

Bibliography:

Depending on the choice of the thesis topic, literature of a methodological nature and specialized literature in Iranian studies are recommended.

KOWLEDGE

- has in-depth and detailed knowledge (including terminology, theory and methodology) in literary studies or linguistic studies or philosophy and religion studies or history.

- has extended knowledge of particular problems pertaining to the cultures of Iran and Afghanistan (within the scope of culture and literature or language or philosophy and religion or history and socio-political issues) in a comparative perspective .

- has extended knowledge of particular problems pertaining to the culture of a chosen region in the Orient or Africa (within the scope of culture and literature or language or philosophy and religion or history and socio-political issues).

- has extended and deepened knowledge of the Persian language .

- knows and understands the local academic tradition (methods of analysis, interpretation and evaluation) in the context of chosen countries of the Iran/Afghanistan.

- demonstrates good grasp of contemporary cultural life of Iran and Afghanistan .

and Afghanistan and the issues within the scope of tradition and modern times.

- potrafi analizować najważniejsze zjawiska z zakresu historii/sytuacji społeczno-politycznej/językowej/kulturowej.

- can evaluate, select and explain most important products of contemporary culture in Iran/Afghanistan .

- has a good command of a foreign language at least at the B2+ level.

- can choose and formulate a subject of an MA thesis, select and find sources in Persian language, make references to a range of theoretical approaches and other sources.

- has superior skill at presenting detailed aspects within the scope of cultural issues of Iran/Afghanistan in Polish and in Persian language taking into consideration the intellectual tradition of Iran and Afghanistan.

- has superior skill at formulating own opinions and conclusions in writing and in speech both in Polish and in a Persian language .

- has superior skill in substantive argumentation with the use of other authors’ views .

- can expertly use advanced electronic and internet tools in Polish and in Persian language .

- understands the need to learn all one’s life, can inspire and organize other people’s process of learning .
