Short description:

During the classes Turkish literature and culture of 19th and 20th cc. will be evaluated in chronological order – firstly, theorically, secondly, on chosen examples.

Full description:

Important changes in Turkish literature will be studied chronologically. Popular, divan, sufi literature and the improvement of Turkish literature under the western effect will be evaluated considering its social, political and cultural environment. Innovative tendencies in Turkish literature from 1860 to present (introduction of new literary genres, innovations and changes in poetry, short stories, novels, drama, essays, the activities of literary groups and streams) will be studied on examples of works of chosen poets and novelists of the 19th and 20th century Turkish literature. Selected poems, short stories and novels of Turkish literature of the Tanzimat period will be read and analyzed. The works of selected poets and authors will be evaluated considering political, social cultural environment the writers lived in.

Knowledge:

o has basic knowledge in the range of theory of humanities (literary studies) necessary to understand chosen cultural aspects [K_W04];

o has detailed and organized knowledge of the Turkish literature and writings from the Tanzimat period to the contemporary times; can name and characterize most important phenomena/trends/literary texts/writings of Turkish literature [K_W05];

o demonstrates basic grasp of contemporary cultural life of Turkey [K_W16];

o can indicate most important intellectual problems, dilemmas, aesthetic preferences taking shape inside the culture of Turkey [K_U10];

o can interpret key terms from the culture of Turkey through linguistic/philological analysis [K_U15]

o can properly function in the linguistic and cultural environment of Turkey [K_U17];

o has a skill in presenting detailed aspects within the scope of cultural issues of Turkey in Polish and in Turkish taking into consideration the intellectual tradition of Turkey [K_U21].
