A1, beginner level, according to A Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: Learning, Teaching, Assessment, signifies a target level of language skills acquisition upon completion of A1 course.

Full description:

Upon completion a student can understand and use familiar, everyday expressions and very basic phrases aimed at the satisfaction of needs of a concrete; s/he can introduce him/herself and others and can ask and answer questions about personal details such as where s/he, people s/he knows and things s/he has; s/he can interact in a simple way provided the other person tolks slowly and clearly and is prepared to help.
