A1 by Modern Languages: Learning, Teaching, Assessment. A Common European Framework of Reference indicates the target level of a language course in the field of basic language skills for students starting their studies from the beginning. |
Full description: |
Upon completion a student can speak slowly and clearly, and understands basic vocabulary from A1 level. A student is able to read and understand simple texts and analyze sentence structures. A student is able to communicate in Persian supposing that his interlocutor speaks slowly and clearly, as well as build simple sentences on different topics. A student is able to ask questions and answer questions, talk about nationality, his country, daily routines, food, place of living, time and days. A student can also write simple texts and complete personal questionnaires. |

Learning outcomes: |
SKILLS: After the completion of the course, a student : - is able to communicate effectively with Farsi speakers - understands written and spoken sources - is able to read and understand simple Persian texts - is able to speak, using simple Farsi language structures in real situations Knowledge: - beginner level vocabulary - beginner level grammar - cultural knowledge of Iran SOCIAL SKILLS: - teamwork skills - recognizes different learning styles and understand the need of self-development as well as the idea of lifelong learning - knows basic cultural manners and verbal and nonverbal reactions typical of Persian cultural-linguistic area - notices cultural difference and demonstrates cultural tolerance |
Assessment methods and assessment criteria: |
The following elements are taken into account before assessing the completion of the course: - active participation in language classes (25%) - tests and homework results (25% ) - final test result (50%), however, in order to gain a positive mark for completing the course, students must show certain achievements with regard to each of the above categories (no mark will be given to a student who has received 0 per cent in any of the categories, or has not shown any activity in one of them) GRADING SCALE 99 – 100% – 5 (outstanding) 93 – 98% – 5 (very good) 87 – 92% – 4+ (good plus) 77 – 86% – 4 (good) 71 – 76% – 3+ (satisfactory plus) 60 – 70% – 3 (satisfactory) |
