Short description: |
Why are some animals monogamous and others polygamous? What makes one organism a hunter and another prey? Why do some animals form groups whereas others lead a solo life? Can we speak of animal culture? The course deals with evolutionary and ecological processes that are at the foundation of animal behaviours. During the field course students will complete short research projects related to the above issues. |

Knowledge: KW_01 - Basic knowledge of animal life sciences, including zoology, physiology and psychophysiology, theory of evolution, ecology, ethology, genetics, nature and environment protection KW_02 - Basic knowledge of comparative psychology and zoopsychology as well as biological foundations of behaviour Skills KU_08 - Knowing how to continually update and expand one’s knowledge and improve one’s skills Social competences KK_02 - Being prepared for fact-based argumentation in academic debates and ideological disputes while respecting views different from one’s own KK_04 - Being prepared for acting in accordance with the code of scientific work ethics and decency while respecting one’s own and others’ health as well as intellectual property rights KK_08 - Being prepared for using deductive thinking skills in analysing natural phenomena and cultural processes |
