The lecture presents main ideas, doctrines, trends and philosophical schools of Polish philosophy of anti-positivistic turn and of the 20th century. The lecture discuss the following issues (i.a.): Polish philosophy of anti-positivistic turn and modernist metaphysics (E. Abramowski, K. Twardowski, S. Brzozowski, M. Zdziechowski); the axiological philosophy of culture and its fundamental role in the historiosophical views on the future of European civilization (F. Znaniecki, S. I. Witkiewicz); new projects of scientific philosophy (Lwow-Warsaw School, phenomenology of R. Ingarden); ontological disputes during the interwar period; the situation of Polish philosophy in the post-war period. |

Learning outcomes: |
- students have knowledge of the most important achievements in the history of Polish philosophical thought during the anti-positivist turn and the 20th century - students know the basic research methods and argumentation strategies used in Polish philosophy of the anti-positivist turn and the 20th century; - students understand the historical nature of the formation of philosophical ideas and the historical changeability of language meanings; - students understand the role of philosophical reflection in shaping culture. - students detect the relationship between the formation of philosophical ideas and social and cultural processes. - students are ready to identify their knowledge and skills in the field of the history of Polish philosophy of the anti-positivist turn and the 20th century |
