Ideas of progress and development in the context of climate crisis

During the seminar we will critically analyse philosophical concepts of progress and development in the 21st century scientific and philosophical debate, in the context of the climate crisis, their axiological assumptions and ethical implications.

During the seminar we will critically analyse philosophical concepts of progress and development in the 21st century scientific and philosophical debate, in the context of the climate crisis, and their axiological assumptions and ethical implications.

Special attention will be paid to peripheral philosophies, that is philosophies outside the North American and European core. They deserve particular interest, because the global peripheries experience the effects of the climate crisis much more acutely than the global core. They also seem to be a particularly relevant voice in contemporary debates on development.

The seminar is conducted within the project: Ideas of progress and development in the context of the climate crisis in peripheral philosophy in the 21st century, National Science Centre Poland, 2021/43/B/HS1/03354.
