Prerequisites (description): | An in-depth analysis of contemporary international organizations, intergovernmental as well as NGO's, starting from theoretical framework, but focused on practical aspects of their activities. Interpretations of role and impact of those organizations. Characteristics of those organizations with focus on their impact and role. Specification of those organizations according to their functions, territorial impact, filed of interests. Fragmentation into global and regional organizations with indication, which are the most important ones. |

Short description: |
The lecture is aimed to show the most importnant international organizations, which are actually acting on the globe, wich a special preference for those, which hgave the biggest impact on contemporary international arena on the one side, or have an important role for Poland on the othger side. Notification of ever-growing role of non-state subjects on international arena, their classifications according to different criterias (ecnomic, securit, environmental, etc, as well as global, regional, or local). At the beginning of the series a tjeoretical framework of functioning of international organizations is given to th audience. |

Starting from theoretical framework (firs four), the lecture then is going to detect their ever-growing dyuynamics (next two), and thereafter is analysing the most important organizations, starting from Europe, and finishing in Asia and in a new international order which seems to emerge right now (after 2008) on global scene. Particualr division is following one: 1. Participants or subjects of international arena. 2. Set-up and classification of organizations 3. Functions and organs of international organizations 4. Decision-making process in international organizations 5. International organizations versus international order 6. Dynamics of international organizations 7/8. UN and the UN System 9/10. European Union 11/12. Council of Europe 13/14 OSCE 15/16. NATO 17. OECD 18. G-7 into G-20 19/20. Bretton Woods System 21. NAFTA 22. MERCOSUR 23. African Union 24. Arab League (OPEC) 25/16. International organizations in Asia (ASEAN, APEC, TPP 2.0, RCEP, AIIB) 27/28. The most importnat (global) NGO's 29/30. New global order (BRICS, G-20, Chinese BRI). |

Learning outcomes: |
Konwledge: - To understand the growing role of international organizations on international arena. - Ability to reckognize, which organization is functional and which disfunctional - and why. - Starting from reality and facts, ability to define the creteria of action of any organization, its system of values, etc. Competences: - Ability to recjkongnize the organization (governmental or NGO), its strcuture, institutional framework, aims and purposes. - Analysis of what is god or bad in functioniung of the organization (institiutional, organizational and value factors, impact of any other subject on arena). - Reckognition of the organiztation, its qulity and worth both from the point of view of nationa state and cooperating subjects. - Ability to quickly react on any new initiative. Posture and attitude: - Independence in selection of oragnizations, as well as active approach towards its functioning. - Consciousness of contemporary multiple world where beoyng the nation state there is more and more non-state players. - Ability to have an impact on the world around us. |

Lecture. Written exam. Main criteria: attendence on the lecture (not obligatory particpation but obligatory knowledge from it). |
