The course covers the most important elements that make up social research methodology, including research design, key theoretical approaches, data collection and data analysis. 1. Organisational meeting 2. Scientific knowledge. Research questions, hypotheses and variables 3. Political science as a science. Methodological diversity 4–5. Theoretical perspectives 6. Qualitative and quantitative methods - introduction 7. Measurement 8. Research plan 9. Literature review 10. Empirical observations 11. Document analysis 12. Surveys and interviews 13-14. Preparation and presentation of research projects 15. Test. |

Learning outcomes: |
The student knows stages of research process. The student understand the basic terminology in the field of methodology of social sciences. The student is able to apply selected paradigms and theoretical orientations in own's short analyzes. The student can work in a group. |
Assessment methods and assessment criteria: |
1. The condition for obtaining credit is attendance at classes (two absences are allowed) and performing assigned tasks, as well as obtaining at least 50% of the points on the final test. 2. The final grade consists of: a. 60% - assessment of work during the semester, including activity in class, presentation (topics 4-5) and a research project (topics 13-14). b. 40% - test mark (item 15) |
