The main aim of the course is to acquaint a Student with historical, theoretical and practical aspects of the informational and digital society in the European Union and Poland with a special emphasise on e-Government in Poland and in the European Union.

Classroom

The main aim of the course is to acquaint a Student with the development of the information and digital society in the European Union emphasizing on the issue of e-Government in the European Union and Poland.

ATTENTION: The discussion class will be run in the class with the support of the Kampus UW platform.

The course will be run as a discussion class. During the course a Student will be acquainted with aims and the current stage of the development of the information and digital society policy of the European Union and Poland with the particular emphasize on e-Government issues. The course will focus on analysis of the European Union's and Poland's e-Government systems as well as on practice in using e-Government systems and understanding of its construction, functioning and requirements which they should fulfil.

The course. covers also some chosen new ICT technologies applied in e-Government.

It covers following topics:

1. The information and digital society policy of the European Union

2. e-Government in the information and digital society policy of the European Union

3. The information and digital society policy and e-Government in Poland

4. e-Government vis-à-vis e-Governance

5. Access to public information in the European Union and Poland

6. Re-use of public sector information

7. Public sector electronic services

8. Electronic Citizen Identities

9. Personal data protection.

10. E-participation, e-Democracy and e-Voting

11. Interoperability of e-Government systems in the European Union

12. Electronic platforms for e-Government systems

13. Cybersecurity

14. Information sources on effectiveness of e-Government systems in the European Union and on the world

15. e-Government systems in view of unforeseen circumstances like the COVID-19 pandemic

16. Chosen new ICT technologies applied in e-Government like for example artificial intelligence.

After completing the course students:

K_W01 - a Student has a fundamental knowledge on the information and digital society policy in the European Union and Poland with a special emphasise on the e-Government issues, its construction, functioning and new technologies applied.

K_U09 - A Student is able to use the Polish and the European Union's e-Government systems, recognizes digital platforms where these systems are located, is able to explain its parts and element,s using presentations,

and to imaginatively suggest optimal solutions in these systems.

The assessment on a grade will be based on the attendance which is mandatory, active participation and a coursework.
