Polish and European texts (particularly from the 19th and 20th centuries) will be analysed in the context of the history of European reception of Greek culture (both ancient and modern). Apart from the merit side of issues such as the themes, motifs and conventions of "Greek travel writing", methodological issues are an important aspect of the seminar, especially the question of how to analyse literary works rooted in ancient tradition.
