  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Prerequisites (description):

The classes are dedicated to students who have not had any contact with badminton and to those who have basic skills and want to improve them. Topics of classes include techniques of selected hits, footwork, tactics, regulations of the game and physical preparation.

It is necessary to have a badminton racket synthetic or feather shuttlecock. Additionally: there are no health contraindications for practicing this discipline.


Short description:

The main goal is to teach the students selected technical skills (hitting, footwork), tactics of single and double games, development of motor abilities used in badminton and improve the joint and muscle mobility. Classes end with an intra-group competition based on the acquired skills and physical fitness.

Full description:

During the classes there will be:

- teaching the main racket grips

- teaching backhand and forehand shots, including short serves, flick serve, drive shots, defensive shots (block)

- teaching the footwork, including the split step

- overview of the settings and tactics in double and mixed games

- overview of the game systems in badminton

- developing motor abilities

- improving the level of physical fitness

- competing based on acquired skills

Learning outcomes:

Students:

- will acquire the general knowledge of the human body and its functioning;

- will be able to exercise safely;

- will learn how to work in a team;

- will understand the need to stay fit in order to remain healthy;

- will be able to use sports equipment correctly;

- will develop special motor skills under the guidance of the Physical Education and Sports Centre’s staff.

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

In order to obtain a course credit students are required to participate in classes regularly and actively.
