  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Prerequisites (description):

(in Polish) he classes are dedicated to all students.


These classes are dedicated especially to those students who have not yet had the opportunity to play the sport version of badminton (for points), or who have already played, but assess their skills as basic. During these classes the students will get the ability to perform basic badminton strokes: i.e.: clear, smash, backhand and forehand serves, drop, net drop, lift, drive; knowledge of how to play badminton matches, including familiarity with the court lines; the ability to count points in singles and doubles; refereeing ability.


It is mandatory to have your own badminton racket, SWFiS provides only the shuttles.


Additionally: no health contraindications to practice this discipline.


Short description: (in Polish)

The aim of the course is learning/teaching? both technical and tactical basic badminton skills (learning the performance of badminton strokes, learning footwork, learning double games rotations) and developing all motor features, raising general and specific physical fitness, preparation to participate in tournaments. In addition to basic technical and motor exercises, games and tournaments will be played during the classes.

During the classes, learning exercises will be implemented:

- backhand and forehand strokes: short and long service, net drop, lift/lob, forehand smash, forehand clear, drive, drop, short and long defense strokes, backhand strike from the back of the court. Particular attention will be given to the rotational movement of the forearm performed during most strokes

- performing strokes along a straight and diagonal court

- foot workout - learning the implementation of basic steps in the badminton court

- performing basic badminton routines

- technical skills using exercises with a lot of shuttlecocks, simplified games, exercises with favoritism and full badminton matches

- moving around the court in doubles

- all motor features as well as general and specialized physical fitness

During the classes, apart from exercises, singles and doubles matches and tournaments will be played.

Learning outcomes: (in Polish)

- student is able to describe and perform basic strokes occurring in badminton

- student is able to determine in which situation a given stroke can be used

- student distinguishes offensive from defensive strokes and is able to perform them

- student knows the basic rules of movement on the court, understands the specificity of the steps occurring in badminton

- student knows the rules and regulations for playing single and double matches

- student knows and understands the tactics of playing badminton matches

- student knows and understands the group systems of playing sports tournaments

- student knows the safety principles of performing individual exercises

- student is able to use badminton sport equipment in an appropriate way

- student knows how to interact in a group

- student understands the need to take care of physical fitness and the need for regular physical activity

- student has a general knowledge of the structure and functioning of his body

- student has specialized motor skills acquired under the guidance of a teacher of the SWFiS

- student acquires skills to start and represent the University of Warsaw at sports competitions (e.g. Warsaw and Mazovia Badminton University Academic Championships)

The student passes the course based on the presence and active participation in classes.
