Prerequisites (description): | Health declaration - after knowing the ruls of the sport section of the University of Warsaw I declare, that Im healthy and I can fully take part in these exercises. In case of any difficulties, I will inform the teacher. |
Short description: |
Learning and perfecting break falls and techniques applied from a standing or non-standing position as well as using judo techniques in the sport fight or self-defence. |
Full description: |
In order to ensure health and safety during judo classes, students will learn break falling techniques and will have an opportunity to perfect them in various conditions. Students will also learn throwing techniques (nage-waza) and grappling techniques (katame-waza). While training throwing techniques, students will practise throws from different groups, namely: – hand throws (te-waza) – hip throws (koshi-waza) – foot throws (ashi-waza) – sacrifice throws (sutemi-waza). While training grappling techniques, students will practise and perfect different ways to overpower the opponent in a non-standing position through pinning (osaekomi-waza), strangulation (shime-waza) or locks (kansetsu-waza). In addition, during the classes students will: – enhance co-ordination and fitness – perform muscle strengthening exercises – perform stretching exercises. Through training, students will also acquire the ability to use judo techniques in the sport fight (learning its rules and tactics) or self-defence. |
Learning outcomes: |
Students: - will acquire the general knowledge of the human body and its functioning; - will be able to exercise safely; - will learn how to work in a team; - will understand the need to stay fit in order to remain healthy; - will be able to use sports equipment correctly; - will develop special motor skills under the guidance of the Physical Education and Sports Centre’s staff. |
Assessment methods and assessment criteria: |
The basis for passing the course is the systematic and systematic conduct of classes. |
