Prerequisites (description): | The basketball section consists of current and former basketball players who study at the University of Warsaw. Training sessions are intended for students with a record of competing for their high schools in inter-school competitions or those with the skills required to join the University Sports Association. Health declaration - after knowing the ruls of the sport section of the University of Warsaw I declare, that Im healthy and I can fully take part in these exercises. In case of any difficulties, I will inform the teacher. |
Short description: |
The section has two teams. The first team plays in the Central First League, while the second team is composed exclusively of UW students, who prepare to compete in the Warsaw Games, University Championships of Warsaw and University Championships of Poland. |
Full description: |
Perfection of basketball techniques and tactics. Development of offensive skills: – moving without the ball (stance, starting, running, stopping, change of pace, change of direction); – catches and passes (catching low, medium and high balls and balls rolling on the ground, one-handed and situational catches; two-handed, one-handed and situational passes). |
Learning outcomes: |
Students: - will acquire the general knowledge of the human body and its functioning; - will be able to exercise safely; - will learn how to work in a team; - will understand the need to stay fit in order to remain healthy; - will be able to use sports equipment correctly; - will develop special motor skills under the guidance of the Physical Education and Sports Centre’s staff. |
Assessment methods and assessment criteria: |
Play, analytic, synthetic and comprehensive approach as the basic set of activities and means leading to performance of specific motor tasks. Credit is earned for active participation in training sessions and university competitions. |
