Full description: |
Upon completion a student can understand the main ideas of complex texts on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in his/her field of specialization; s/he can interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party; s/he can produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options. |
Learning outcomes: |
After completing the course, the student: (Skills) 1. explains, both orally and in writing, information presented in a graphic way, as long as it relates to a familiar topic 2. expresses, with a degree of fluency, his/her own opinions on familiar topics and those related to the subject of studies of professional career, presenting appropriate arguments in a debate 3. makes a synthesis of a text (written or spoken), eg. from a lecture, presentation, TV programme, relating to a wide range of topics of social, academic or professional life 4. writes a coherent and logical text on familiar topics, eg. a description, an essay, a report, a formal and an informal letter 5. gives a presentation, using an appropriate form and phrases, on professional and academic topics 6. enters into a conversation on everyday topics in a rather fluent and comprehensible way, using culturally accepted verbal and non-verbal means and an appropriate register in both formal and informal situations (Knowledge and Attitudes) 7.makes use of knowledge, acquired during the course, of culture of a given lingusitic region 8.cooperates effectively within the group, assigning tasks for himself/herself and others 9. recognizes his/her own learning style and chooses ways for contunuing self-development 10. shows tolerance towards a variety of attitudes and opinions in interpersonal contacts |
Assessment methods and assessment criteria: |
C Blended courses (50% of teaching and learning takes place in the classroom and 50% online) The final grade is drawn from the following components: Obligatory activities on the Moodle / Internet platform: 40% Final test: 30% Attendance and activity record from face-to-face classes: 30% Grading scale 99 - 100% Grade: 5! 93 - 98% Grade: 5 87 - 92% Grade: 4+ 77 - 86% Grade: 4 71 - 76% Grade: 3+ 60 - 70% Grade: 3 Note: At the end of the semester, all of the students are obliged to obtain a minimum 60% score for the Moodle (Internet) component. Two unexplained absences are allowed in one semester. On completion of a 60-hour-course (30 hours online and 30 hours in class), i.e. on completion of the learning outcomes, students receive 2 ECTS points. |
