ECTS credit allocation (and other scores): 2.50 Basic information on ECTS credits allocation principles:
  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Prerequisites (description):

The classes aim to develop students' linguistic awareness regarding the knowledge of language functions and forms, as well as the influence of linguistic theories on teaching foreign language grammar.

The subject covers education in the field of communication and language, with a particular emphasis on French grammar for teachers. The aim of the course, which presents and practically implements a contemporary approach to teaching and learning grammar within language education, is to systematize and deepen the knowledge of French grammar by developing students' grammatical awareness based on specially selected sets of grammar tasks/exercises solved by students.

The subject covers education in the field of language knowledge, with particular emphasis on the role of French language grammar in fulfilling its communicative function.

Course Objectives:

Discourse functions of individual language forms at the sentence and discourse level from a glottodidactic perspective, in terms of teaching/learning a foreign language.

Language teaching methods, with special emphasis on the inductive method and task-based approach.

Linking teaching methods to contemporary theories in the field of foreign language acquisition.

Developing students' language awareness through performing tasks of a mediative nature, using various forms of work.

Utilizing a contrastive approach within integrated glottodidactics.

Scope of topics:

1. Passive voice of verbs.

2. Emphatic and impersonal constructions.

3. Plus-que-parfait vs passé composé and imparfait.

4. Subjunctive mood.

5. Conditional present and conditional past.

6. Compound coordinated sentences, both with and without conjunctions.

7. Parenthetical sentences.

8. Subordinate clauses of time.

9. Infinitive clauses (l’infinitif présent and passé).

10. Subordinate clauses of cause.

11. Gérondif and adjectif verbal.

12. Subordinate clauses of purpose.

13. Subordinate clauses of permission.

14. Subordinate clauses of condition.

15. Direct and indirect speech.

necessary terminology in the field of French grammar, appropriate for teaching foreign languages.

significantly, the processes of interpersonal and social communication in Polish and French, their regularities, and disruptions.

Skills: The graduate can:

S_U01

search, analyze, evaluate, select, and use information using various sources and methods in Polish and French.

S_U02

independently plan and implement typical projects related to teaching foreign languages in preschool, school, and other educational institutions teaching foreign languages.

S_U03

diagnose the needs, capabilities, and abilities of each student and design and implement individualized education and training programs.

S_U09

analyze their own actions and identify areas requiring changes in future activities.

S_U19

using basic organizational skills, plan and implement tasks related to teaching foreign languages, optionally teaching the subject of social studies.

Social competences: The graduate is ready to:

engage in lifelong learning.

reflect on the level of their knowledge and skills, engage in continuous professional development and personal growth, self-assess their competencies, and improve their skills, setting directions for their own development and education.

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

The basis for passing the classes is:

a) Attendance. The student is allowed to have 2 unexcused absences.

b) Active participation in classes.

c) Completion of homework assignments.

d) Partial tests covering specific sections of the material (minimum 60%).

e) Comprehensive final test covering the entire material (minimum 60%).

Single-day medical exemptions will not be considered as justification for absence during assessments.
