Efekty uczenia się:

Participation in the class "European Institutional Law" will allow students to understand a wide spectrum of issues relating to the functioning of the European Union. The class gives an insight in legal aspects of the European integration and it covers practical aspects of dealings of European institutions and the Member States. The class will familiarize students with legislative framework of the EU law, as well as with selected decisions of the European institutions and judgements of the EU courts. The course will enable students to understand and discuss abort actual challenges occurring on the EU.

Metody i kryteria oceniania:

Assessment methods and criteria were worked out on the basis of assessment of a progress that students make in course of the class. The main criterion regards a level of student involvement and interest in topics discussed during the lecture, including active participation in the course, a way of expressing views, ability to conduct own analysis, etc. Also results of regular (occurring every week) colloquies and regular participation in classes are assessment criteria.

Zakres tematów:

Scope of the course covers the following areas:

- Historic and economic background to the European integration;

- Terminology used in EU law;

- Fundamental principles of the EU law;

- Competences of the European institutions;

- Interactions between the European institutions;

- Types of the EU legislation, significance of judgements of the EU courts;

- Judicial protection in the EU.

Metody dydaktyczne:

- Solving case studies;

- Group exercises comprising of preparing case law and materials

- Interactive class based on sharing expertise and knowledge
