Learning activities

and teaching methods

 reading literature (handbook chapters and scientific articles,

study reports)

 power-point presentations delivered by the lecturer (presenting

background knowledge, serving as introduction into the discussed

topic);

 student-prepared and delivered research reports (15-20 mins,

graded, obligatory for each student);

 in class discussions that will call on the knowledge gathered from

the assigned literature and the students’ own knowledge;

 open-ended thought questions or exercises, about new material

before it is covered in class (to get idea of students pre-class

knowledge and understanding of issues to be covered in class);

 questions from the students (for in-class discussion) prepared

before the class (on the basis of the readings and students’ own

experience).
