 acquiring psychotherapeutic skills of a Cognitive-Behavioral and Schema therapist

 understanding the process of psychotherapy in terms of CBT theory and in terms of III wave of behavioral therapies

 understanding the difference between classical CBT and III wave of behavioral therapies

 self-awareness of one’s own emotional and cognitive processes and its impact on the psychotherapeutic process

 skill to formulate a case study

 knowledge of the specific cognitive and behavioral concepts and models of psychopathology and psychotherapy process

• Attendance - necessary condition

• Case study (15-20 pages) - 60 points, criteria: the quality of the text and punctuality

o Part I (20 points: (1) Life history, current situation and the main problem of the patient, (2) ICD-10 diagnosis.

o Part II (40 points): The whole case study.

• Feedback after each session - 20 points, criteria: consciousness & punctuality

o Fall semester – 10 points

• Attitude – 20 points, criteria: engagement, consciousness & punctuality during the work with the patient, during the supervision and concerning extra tasks (e.g. reading literature).

Attendance is a necessary condition to pass the class. Only sick leave and extreme life situations will be handled as a valid excuse. All the absences will be individually discussed with the class conductor. Unexcused absences are not allowed. More than 8 hours of absence with excuse means that the student will not be able to pass the course.

Note that psychotherapy sessions with patients cannot be paused because of student holidays. This course continues also in holiday times, during which you are expected to be present. Plan you holidays accordingly.

There will be 15 class meetings. Systematic sessions must be provided for the good of the patients, so there is only one week break between Christmas and New Year and there are no other breaks.

Class #1 Introductory meeting (without the patients). dividing into subgroups and patient assignment.

Classes # 2-14. Psychotherapy sessions and supervisory meetings. Each session will be tailored to the needs of a given patient. Homework assignments will be tailored to the conceptualisation and goal of therapy.

Class #15 Summary meeting (without the patients) . Presenting the case to the whole group.
