Problem-based methods: brainstorming, discussion panel, problem-based lecture, case study.

Demonstrating methods: lecture.

The classes will have a form of a workshop, which will be a combination of a seminar and students’ presentations. The classes are dedicated for the PhD students of the Doctoral School of Exact and Natural Sciences. The classes will simulate the process of grant application, including: (i) project proposal preparation, (ii) its evaluation, (iii) interview with the panel of experts, and (iv) correction of the project proposal for its resubmission. During the first meeting the coordinator will present the rules of preparation of the project proposals. Then, each student or pair of students will prepare a project proposal (concerning fundamental or applied studies) to be evaluated by the colleagues, acting as the panel of experts during the second meeting. The third and fourth meetings, will be dedicated to present and defend the project in front of the panel of student-experts. Each student will have to prepare the constructive feedback for the author of the project, which then will be used by him/her to correct the project and resubmit it, which will be a final condition of passing the classes. During the seminar part there will be also a presentation of an instruction for the proper project reporting.

Student:

Know institutions, which fund research in Poland

know and understand the basic concepts related to the preparation of a project application,

will learn about the main sources of funding for research and international mobility,

can make a critical analysis and evaluation of the results of scientific research, expert activity and other creative works and their contribution to the development of knowledge

Can disseminate the results of research activity, also in popular forms

can plan and carry out individual and team research or creative projects, also in an international environment

is ready to critically evaluate own contribution to the development of a given scientific or artistic discipline

The course is dedicated for PhD students of the Doctoral School of Exact and Natural Sciences. It will be composed of 4 on-line meetings (2 h each). The student is eligible to have only one absence.

Student will have to prepare a project proposal and actively participate in the classes.
