Skrócony opis: |
(tylko po angielsku) The aim of this project is to introduce the students and develop their knowledge of the modern techniques of surface modifications with molecular layers with subsequent analysis of the obtained systems with advanced surface- analysis methods, such as ellipsometry, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and quartz crystal microbalance, working in concerted manner |
Pełny opis: |
(tylko po angielsku) Students will analyze and prepare metallic (gold) surfaces for modifications with molecular assemblies, evaluate the state of the surface (presence of unwanted organic species, redox systems, etc.). After the decision-making process, he/she will deposit the molecular layer either via self-assembly or (and) Langmuir-Blodgett techniques. Next step will be the evaluation of the quality of obtained structures, taking into account molecular organization/assembly on the surface, the presence and size of possible defects (insulation behavior), as well as their hydrophilic/hydrophobic balance – wetting angle measurements. Techniques used: 1. Langmuir/Langmuir-Blodgett technique, 2. Cyclic voltammetry, alternate current voltammetry, impedance spectroscopy, 3. Quartz crystal microbalance 4. Spectroscopic ellipsometry 5. Wetting angle measurements Finally, the report is prepared summarizing the results with particular emphasis on the complementarity of the techniques used for surface analysis. |

Efekty uczenia się: |
(tylko po angielsku) After the project the student: - knows the basic terms describing the interfacial phenomena and electrochemical kinetics, - knows the main relationships in electrochemistry and how to use them in surface analysis - is able to determine the fundamental physicochemical parameters from experimental data - is able to interpret the experimental data and infer the appropriate conclusions |
Metody i kryteria oceniania: |
