  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;

Short description:

The main idea of the lecture is to explain present-day diversity of animals by their evolution. Their anatomical, physiological and behavioral adaptations are presented within frames of taxonomic units based on molecular phylogenetics.

Full description:

The contents of lectures is every year accomodated to the current state of knowledge. The subjects covered range from unicellular organisms, more or less closely related to animals, to humans.

Presentations published in Interenet on the page of the department of Paleobiology and Evolution; also generally available textbooks of zoology.

Learning outcomes:

Sudents are expected to obtain basic knowledge of the diversity of animal world.

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

Written examinations by answering to 20 general questions. The required knowledge is clearly indicated on presentations.
