ECTS credit allocation (and other scores): 3.00 Basic information on ECTS credits allocation principles:
  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Prerequisites (description):

Computer literacy

Mode:

Classroom

Short description:

Acquiring the skills of working with GPS devices. Getting acquainted with the software which allows the measurements results storage, processing and analysis.

The basics of the theory of geodetic measurements providing the ability to perform correct measurements (GPS systems and spatial reference systems), the methods of geodata acquisition and analysis (servers and websites), using surveying equipment to enhance measurements’ precision.

Full description:

The lectures will cover such issues as:

- Introduction to surveying systems and reference systems,

- Basic cartographic projections and coordinate systems used in Poland,

- Satellite positioning techniques and methods (GPS, GPS RTK, etc.),

The exercise will cover the following issues:

-Familiarizing participants with the instruments enabling field measurements

- Training measurements with the usage of satellite receivers and relative RTK method using transmission from geodetic network - SmartNet,

- Data acquisition sources,

- Field measurements results analysis and visualization with the usage of GI systems.

Learning outcomes:

Selects and applies optimal methods of data acquisition, analysis and presentation.

Presents effectively measurements results with the usage of visualization tools.

Is able to appropriately selected measurement technique for the purpose of particular geodetic measurements.

Can conduct 3D (horizontal position and height of objects) measurements using GNSS (Global Nawigation Satelite System) selected devices.

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

The course ends with written test assessment and project assessment. The course ends with written test assessment and project assessment. The final evaluation of the course includes an assessment of the project (50%) as well as the assessment of the written test (50%).

Attendance at exercises is obligatory. The student has the right to one unexcused absence during classes. The student should do this exercise on his own and send an e-mail or show the results to the lecturer in one week time.
