ECTS credit allocation (and other scores): 3.00 Basic information on ECTS credits allocation principles:
  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Prerequisites (description):

The purpose of the course is to discuss the political systems of selected Asian countries. Genesis of the party and political system of selected Asian countries (historical and cultural conditions). The formation of the foundations of the political system of selected Asian countries. The division of power. The main state organs and their powers in selected Asian countries. Discussion of the main political parties in selected Asian countries.

2. Liberal democracies, illiberal democracies and what else? Overview of the political systems of Asian countries

3 The formation of the foundations of the political system of selected Asian countries.

4. Historical and cultural conditions.

5. Case study: analysis of political systems of selected Asian countries:

a. Genesis of the party and political system

b. Division of power. Main state organs and its powers.

c. Role of the media, significance of NGOs, interest groups and other internal actors
