(tylko po angielsku) Cognitive Psychology II is a course that provides students with general knowledge on memory and learning processes. It discusses the most fundamental issues within this area, including main theories and research paradigms, as well as recent studies in neuroscience. The lecture will also describe connections between learning and memory and other psychological processes such as emotion and motivation, and implicit vs. explicit information processing. Both classic theories and recent findings within the scope of psychology of emotions will be presented. |

(tylko po angielsku) The central aim of the course is to provide students with general knowledge on memory and learning processes, basic approaches, theories and research paradigms. First part of the lecture contains historical overview and introduction to classic theories and paradigms, followed by new directions in neuroscience studies. Further, it will review classical memory models and learning paradigms. These will be followed by a presentation of connections between learning and memory and other psychological processes such as emotions and motivation processes. Finally the course will discuss dysfunctions and effect on memory and learning in real life, providing information about meta-memory and learning strategies. |

(tylko po angielsku) A student who completed the course will possess: 1) Knowledge: a. Classic theories of learning and memory. Is able to define memory and learning b. Basic paradigms and classical research within this area. c. Basic memory models and is able to distinguish memory systems. d. Biological components of memory and learning process. e. Connection between memory and learning and emotional processes. f. Conceptions of implicit learning and memory. g. Memory and learning disorders. h. Strategies that can help to improve memory. 2) Competences: a. Is able to use a proper theory when attempting to explain particular psychological problems. b. Is able to apply the knowledge about meta-memory to real life |
Metody i kryteria oceniania: |
(tylko po angielsku) Assessment methods and criteria A final grade will be based on following criteria: 1. the final exam (a multiple-choice test; weight .60) and 2. aggregate score from 2 short papers - homeworks (weight .40) Attendance rules Up to two absences are allowed. In the case of more than two absences students will be asked to complete additional work (short dissertation). |
