The course aims to introduce students to the critical debate on the issue of post-socialism in social sciences, as well as to discuss several relevant questions connected to socio-cultural changes in Central and Eastern Europe. The debate on postsocialism in CEE will be presented in the global context. We will discus relationships and possible links between theories of postsocialism and postcolonial theory as well as theories of globalization and global governance. |

The goal is an enhanced how postsocialist lives are defined, experienced and understood by those living them. In so doing, we will focus on the contradictions, paradoxes and ambiguities of postsocialism by looking closely at are gender, religion practice and its transformations, politics, economy, heritage and food politics. Each topic will be held by the teachers from various V4 countries. Also most examples and texts will focus on V4 countries. A juxtaposition will allow us to think comparatively of different postsocialisms, as well as read more carefully and critically that describe postsocialism more in general. Po ukończeniu zajęć studenci potrafią: - analitycznie myśleć i dokonywać obserwacji i krytyki przemian społeczno-kulturowych - posługiwać się wybranym językiem obcym na poziomie B2+ Europejskiego Systemu Opisu Kształcenia Językowego - posługiwać się specjalistyczną terminologią z zakresu etnologii i antropologii kulturowej w języku obcym |
Metody i kryteria oceniania: |
Methods of Assessment of the Students’ Progress: Interim Assessment (e.g. test, essay, etc.): Written comments to the readings send to the teacher and other group members prior to each class/ participation in the class discussion Final Assessment: Presentation of a research project on a subject of the students' choice that are connected to the topic of the course. This is a group (2-3 people) work in order to both formulate a proposal for conducting research, and to present it in the class. |
