Short description: |
The course presents the basic problems of water management in Poland and its relationship with the environment protection. It focuses on the estimation of available water resources, water management balance in the basin and the water quality assessment. |
Full description: |
Exercises are designed to widen the knowledge coming from lectures and enable their practical application. Examples of calculating water resources, water demand and wastewater production in the administrative unit, water quality assessment and the economic water balance are discussed. |

KNOWLEDGE 1. knows what is water management 2. knows the most important issues of water management; 3. knows the problems of water management in Poland and in the world; 4. knows what they are water-economic systems; SKILLS 1. describes and characterizes types of water resources; 2. discusses issues related to water management taking into account environmental issues; 3. identifies and explains the risks associated with the water element (floods and droughts); 4. applies gained knowledge to plan a comprehensive system of water management; ATTITUDES 1. understands the importance of water management in the national economy; 2. recognizes the importance of systematic and often long-term activities to regulate water management in the basin; 3. understands the need to search for a compromise between effective water management and environment protection. |
Assessment methods and assessment criteria: |
Classes - based on assessment of exercises carried out in the frames of the classes. Detailed passing requirements will be given during the first lecture and class. |
