Additional requirement: minimum B2+ level of English This is a B2+/C1 course offering linguistic preparation for planning and participating in various academic events, developing communication skills in an academic context, broadening language awareness and enhancing the learner’s autonomy. |

cBy the end of the course participants will be able to: 1. create a timeline for a conference 2. discuss the theme, title and submission guidelines for a conference 3. write a Call for Papers 4. talk about different presentation formats and past conference experiences 5. ask a presenter different types of questions 6. respond to questions and comments 7. paraphrase questions 8. summarise a speaker’s ideas 9. construct valid arguments 10. evaluate and respond to arguments 11. use appropriate language to manage or participate in a round-table discussion 12. prepare for, and take part in a panel discussion as a moderator or panellist 13. summarise what different people say in a panel discussion 14. use language appropriately to structure and deliver a lecture in English 15. develop the language needed for interaction with the audience during a lecture |
Metody i kryteria oceniania: |
End-of-course test, completion of tasks on the platform The final grade will be drawn from the following components: • Attendance and performance in the classroom: 25% • Obligatory activities on the Moodle / Internet platform: 25% • Final test: 50% Grading scale: • 99 – 100% Grade: 5! • 93 – 98% Grade: 5 • 87 – 92% Grade: 4+ • 77 – 86% Grade: 4 • 71 – 76% Grade: 3+ • 60 – 70% Grade: 3 At the end of the course, participants are obliged to obtain a minimum 60% score for the Moodle (Internet) component, and a minimum 60% score for the end-of-course test. One unexplained absence is permitted. |
